This product did not meet my expectations. In the description of the product it did not explain that it would not work on every police frequency available. It does not pick up any digital trunking frequencies, which is what my local police, fire, and other emergency services uses. It was totally useless to me except to get a local weather band.
I'm a noobie at scanners, but this is now a paper weight on my desk. The description gives the impression that police/fire rescue can be monitored with this unit, when in reality,99% of all municipal frequencies are trunked, which makes this scanner useless to me.Deceptive advertising on Uniden's part.
its simple to use, it does not need to be technical unless you want to make it. this is my first scanner. from what i have learned it seems everyone starts out with this model or similar. i do recommend using the plastic copper core antenna to put on a window, as it got me a distance of 40 miles, the straight metal antenna was just good for local stuff. this is a product i could easily recommend to anyone that wants to hear new things and listen to the weather as it happens, thank you,,
I've got several of these BC350C scanners and enjoy them very much. Yes, they are klutsy when programming frequencies into the "Private" bank, but once you getthe hang of it, it becomes a breeze. Also there are no"Priority" channels, so you could miss some action on your favorite channel(s). That said, I'm very pleasedwith the BC350C scanners.
This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my husband. He has thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. He especially likes the aircraft band.
